Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba were given municipality status, supposedly making them part of the Netherlands, much like France calls its colonies Departments, supposedly making them part of France.
July 2010- The government of Venezuela states that Dutch military aircraft entered Venezuelan airspace and also states that the Dutch allow U.S military aircraft to operate from Dutch Caribbean colonies in order to violate Venezuelan airspace. Venezuela also states that the Dutch may plan on using the colonies as a launching area for operations against Venezuela along with the U.S. from Colombia and bases in the Dutch colonies. 3 incursions were recorded of Dutch aircraft flying in from Aruba and Curacao.
