From 1549-1793 the capital of Brazil was a city named Salvador.

The capital was chaged to Rio de Jaeiro from 1793-1960.

In 1808, the Portuguese monarchy fled to Brazil after Napoleon invaded Portugal.

The King of Portugal returns in 1821. His son stays in Portugal to rule.

Brazil declared independence from Portugal on September 7^th, 1822

The capital was again changed, after it was decided that Rio de Jaeiro was too crowded and too close to the coastline. The builders wanted to build a more modern looking city further inland, in case of the threat of invasion, so the new capital of Brasilia was built. Brasilia has been the capital of Brazil since 1960.

Brazil uses nuclear power plants.

Started a nuclear weapons program but discontinued it after international pressure, mostly from the U.S.

Intergrated Airspace Command and Control

The integration of military air defense and civilian air traffic control. is done by initiating the Comissao de Implantacao do Sistema de Controle do Espaco Aereo (CISCEA) or Commision for Air Space Control Implementation. This program is part of the Departumento de Controle do Espaco Aereo (DECEA) or Department of Aerospace Control The DECEA itself is a part of the Brazialian Air Force.

DACTA I- Uses LP-23M long range surveillance radars and RS-870 SSR

DACTA II- TRS 2230 three dimensional radars and more RS-870 added for greater coverage.

DACTA III- Coverage extended even further

Amazonia- Added two regional control centers with LP-23M surveillance radars and RS-870 SSRs
